Of COURSE they have anguish, AND guilt (which parpro admits 'most survivors feel anyhow', my post notwithstanding). Mrs. Kennedy's family members know only too well what demons will …   more ›

Merchant buys silver dollars, turns them over to police suspecting they might be rare — and stolen.
Port Chester police are investigating the possibility that two old coins purchased by a local merchant could be valuable collectibles that may have been stolen. The coins, two U.S. silver dollars from the 1800s, were turned into police by an 80-year-old Port Chester shoemaker on Friday after he bought them for $35 from a man who came to his shop. Lt. James Ladeairous said the merchant was approached by a man who showed him a New Jersey driver's license to identify himself and then asked $20 and $15 for the old coins. Ladeairous said the merchant bought the coins and after taking a close look at them suspected the coins could be very valuable — and might have been stolen. Ladeairous said there have been no local reports of similar coins …

Depending on the policy, I think the house will have to be rebuilt in order to collect on that claim. As far as the life insurance, good ole Uncle Sam and New York State will be taking their share (because that is what we all pay insurance premiums for so our government can …   more ›
Speakers at White Plains rally decry the lack of indictments in the death of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr.
NAACP representatives and others renewed demands Saturday for accountability and punishment in the case of a White Plains man fatally shot by police responding to his medical-alert alarm. The man, Kenneth Chamberlain Sr., was 68 and wielding a knife, police said, when he was shot last November in his apartment in the Winbrook housing complex. The killing has sparked a furious community backlash, a subsequent grand jury investigation and, still under way, a federal civil-rights probe. The City of White Plains has also launched an independent review. But under a bright-blue sky and midday sunshine, a succession of angry speakers were not mollified by the investigations. They criticized not only the responding officers but also their …
