Creative Playtime

Creative Playtime is located in a residential neighborhood bordering Eastchester and Scarsdale and was founded inMore 1981 as an outreach program of Grace Lutheran Church.</p> <p>Children of all religious or ethnic background are welcome. Creative Playtime provides half-day and extended day programs for children ages 2 to 4 years old.</p> <p>The school year runs from mid-September to early June. An ease-in schedule aids children in separating.</p> <p>Creative Playtime is a New York State Licensed facility and is inspected annually to meet the requirements for a safe child care center.  <br />   <br /> The professional staff strive to create a nurturing environment and attend annual conferences and workshops as part of teacher development efforts. They also participate in on-going training in the field of early education.</p> <p>Director Carol Guthrie reports to the Creative Playtime School Board. The curriculum is designed to foster children's growth by stimulating their curiosity and challenging their mental and physical needs, including social skills, promoting language and building self-esteem.</p> <p> </p>

Greenacres School

 Greenacres School opened in 1916, making it the oldest elementary school in the district.

The leadershipMore at Greenacres School works hard to preserve that history and has embarked on a number of projects including fixing the mechanical systems of the building, strengthening the structure and making general improvements.</p> <p>The school improved the interior decor and brightened it, in hopes of stimulating  students through a better environment. There is an overhaul of the courtyard in the works helmed by a landscape architect. But the desire to hang on to the past, in a respectful way,  is still there, with preserved photos, mementos and memoribilia from the 1930s onward. </p> <p>Despite the homage to the past, teachers and administration are determined to represent the newest thinking in educational approaches. Last year started Singapore Math, a real-life problem-based approach to mathematics that also trains the students in perserverence and pragmatism while generating solutions.</p> <p>The principal is <b></b> Gerry Young.</p>
