About Jess
Jess Wisloski is a proud Vermonter who has called New York her home since 2000, and the former editor for Scarsdale Patch.
As a film major at the Tisch School of the Arts, she realized her prospects were slim beyond just being a movie buff, and swiftly double-majored in journalism in her last year of college.
Since 2001, she's worked at the Village Voice, the New York Times, and the New York Daily News, in addition to several years she spent freelancing for borough papers, she had some cutural reporting experience as well, regularly contributing to Boldface Names. She was this reporter covering a book party for the Times. She won a National Newspaper Association award for best in-depth series in 2005 at the Brooklyn Papers for coverage on Bruce Ratner and construction plans for the Nets arena.
In 2008 she left newspapers for a job as a webmaster and writer for a non-profit called the Urban Homesteading Assistance Board.
Working as the local news editor in Scarsdale is a dream for her—one that combined her love of natural beauty and stunning architecture with her intense desire to work in news production online. After eight months at Patch she moved on to her current job as New York City local editor at Yahoo.

Scarsdale, you are a beautiful village with the smartest people in the world. It was a wonderful experience, and I'll be back to visit soon!
