Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Politics
I am a registered Democrat who voted for President Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential Election. I am also extremely interested in local politics – an area in which I encourage active community participation.
Religion
I was baptized Lutheran, grew up in the United Methodist Church, attended a Catholic high school and received my B.A. in English Literature from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Additionally, I researched Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikkhism, Islam and the Egyptian Coptic Christian Church while studying abroad in college. Although I do not currently belong to any religious denomination, I believe in cross-cultural dialogue, religious plurality and actively seeking personal faith and understanding through education.

Local Hot-Button Issues
I am extremely interested in secondary education, and look forward to covering and examining the challenges facing Scarsdale's public school system.
