Lenora de la Luna, PhDI am a workaholic who loves what she does!  I taught as a classroom teacher and a full-time college professor for many years.  As a college professor, I most enjoyed teaching and advising because both involved direct contact with my students. I also enjoyed conducting research and writing and have published several scholarly articles and presented countless papers both domestically and abroad. After deciding that I no longer wanted to be a college professor, though, I thought about what I enjoy doing the most.  From that list, I crossed out anything in which I didn't excel and founded learn2love2learn, an educational consulting company that allows me to do what remained on the list.  I provide college admissions counseling, pre-K -8th-grade tutoring services, and teacher/school/district-wide consulting services. (Writing a blog for the Patch allows me to keep writing.)

I have more than 20 years experience working in education with people of all ages (ages 3-90).  I work with a select group of high school-aged students and their families, providing guidance and support through their college search and application process.  I love working with high school students as they progress through high school and learn about themselves and grow as we work together and search for the right colleges for them and as we celebrate their receipt of their coveted acceptance letters.

I also specialize in tutoring young children in all academic areas, especially reading and writing.  Although my work is not limited to working with children who have special needs, I have many students who have learning disabilities, are gifted and talented, or come to me (but don’t leave) as “reluctant learners.” Additionally, I work with young children to help prepare them for standardized and school admissions tests (e.g., ELAs, OLSATs, ERBs, ACTs, SATs).  Working with younger children brings me tremendous joy as I see them transform themselves into avid readers/writers and math junkies right before my eyes or as I help challenge their intellectual curiosity in ways not fostered in schools.

Finally, I provide consultation to preschools and schools in the areas of literacy, testing and assessment, curriculum development, and adapting curriculum to be inclusive.  Talking with teachers and principals about their individual and school strengths and building upon them affords me the opportunity to help positively impact large numbers of students while feeding my intellectual spirit.

These three threads allow me to capitalize on my varied passions and strengths and keep this workaholic happily choosing to work late into the night and on weekends. When not working, I enjoy spending time with friends, listening to music (especially live), cooking, reading, and enjoying life.

Please write me (succeed@learn2love2learn.com) with questions about college admissions for inclusion in “College Bound:  Qs & As about High School and College Admissions.”  I will respond on my blog to as many questions as possible.  Although my blog focuses on college admissions, I love talking shop, so feel free to contact me at the above address or at 917.456.6056 if you have any educationally-related questions.
