Five Things You Need to Know Today: Bloggers, Babies and Bagels and Shaggy Dogs

Drop your tot off at Westchester Reform Temple for a morning of relaxation, enjoy a screening of "The Shaggy Dog" and blog for Scarsdale Patch.

1. Bagels and babies and baby-sitters, oh my! Westchester Reform Temple Early Childhood Center (WRT ECC) will host a free Bagels & Babies program this morning to give moms, dads and caregivers a safe space for their tots to play with peers… and a much-needed break, too. This drop-in program will take place on Mondays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., July 11, 18, August 1 and on Wednesdays on July 6, 13, 20 and 27. Bagels & Babies is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. All sessions take place at Westchester Reform Temple Early Childhood Center’s Library at 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale. For more information call the Early Childhood Center office at (914) 723-7727, visit www.wrtemple.org or email questions to Anna Stampfli at anna@joshstampfli.com.

2. Before you hear the pounding of hammers and the droning of drills emanating from your neighbor’s half-constructed sunroom, take it into consideration that the Board of Architectural Review has already reviewed the blueprints, discussed the plans with the site’s owners and determined how the new room’s appearance will fit the surrounding neighborhood’s architectural aesthetic. Tonight, witness the BAR in action when they meet in Village Hall at 7:30 p.m. to discuss kitchen renovations, deck expansions and landscaping plans. Let’s just hope that construction workers remember the Village Code about power tool usage before 10 a.m. – and that your neighbor’s new patio isn’t too close to your begonia bush.
