Five Things You Need to Know Today: Clear Skies, Trial Gym Memberships and School Board Budgets

The weekend's rainfall has ceased, Will 2 Lose Weight Loss Fitness Club is offering a trial one-week membership and the Board of Education will unveil the projected budget for the 2011-2012 school year this evening.

  1. This morning’s rainfall caused quite a bit of trouble with Westchester’s roads. A flood warning issued for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties closed sections of roads across the lower Hudson Valley region, and rainfall exceeded two inches, covering highways and back roads with sheets of water. Luckily, the rain ceased, the clouds opened to reveal a bright blue sky and this week’s weather forecast is expected to be just as benign as today’s mild, early spring climate. The National Weather Service has called for today’s temperatures to be mostly sunny, and tomorrow is supposed to be clear as well, with highs reaching 44 degrees.
  2. Tonight, the Board of Education of the Scarsdale Union Free School District will present the preliminary proposed budget for 2011-12. The meeting will take place at Scarsdale High School and will be held in Room 170-172 at 8 p.m.
  3. A Scarsdale Neighborhood Association Presidents meeting will take place this evening in Village Hall at 8 p.m. Agenda items include a Heathcote 5 Corners Update, a Historic Preservation Law Survey and a neighborhood winter storm response.
  4. Registration is now open for Wrestling Club for 7th-12th graders, Tumbling – Beginning Back Handsprings for 2d-12th graders, and the Alternative League Spring Program for Kindergarten – 12th graders. Visit the Village website for more information.
  5. is now offering a one-week free trial membership. The trial membership includes full use of all gym equipment and unlimited classes. Contact Melissa Rosabella at (914) 358-9890 to register.
