Five Things You Need to Know Today: Fashion Fundraisers, Pastries for Pets and an Early April Fools Day Joke

Today, baked goods will raise money for furry friends in need, Lord & Taylor purchases will benefit charity and the Westchester region is expected to receive an inch of snow.

1. The Scarsdale Republican Town Committee will be holding its Third Annual Spring Fundraiser tonight at 7 p.m. Cocktails, dinner and a speech from Chairman Bob Cohen are all on the agenda for the evening’s festivities. The Fundraiser will be held at the Fox Meadow Tennis Club on 14 Wayside Road, and the suggested donation is $100. Pay online at http://scarsdalegop.org. 2. “The Race to Nowhere, ” a documentary by director Vicki Abeles that explores the plight of burnt-out students, educators and parents across the country, is being screened tonight by the Jewish Community Center on the Hudson. 3. Ticket sales are still ongoing for Lord & Taylor’s Do Good fundraiser. Buy a $5 in stores at any register or online and receive a Bonus 20 percent Savings Coupon for one item, plus a 15 percent Savings Pass to use on anything store-wide, with the exception of cosmetics and fragrances. All ticket proceeds will go to local non-profit groups. Stop by the Lord & Taylor at 750 White Plains Road to participate – a good discounted sweater can help warm up an otherwise chilly day.

4. Furry friends in need aren’t the only sweet part about the Tuckahoe Seniors’ Bake Sale— the proceeds they’ll collect from indulging your sweet tooth will benefit the Yoners Humane Society and Animal Shelf. Swing by 1 Rivervue Place, Tuckahoe (The Fountains at RiverVue) between 1 -5 p.m. to donate money or purchase pastries and pies. 5. April Fools Day isn’t until tomorrow, but it seems like nature is playing a premature joke on Westchester County tonight – according to the National Weather Service, the region is expecting possible snow accumulation of an inch this evening. Isn’t it supposed to be spring?!
