Five Things You Need to Know Today: New Mom Columns, Local Eats and Waste Reduction Seminars

Today, you can check out the Scarsdale Patch website's new mom columns, eat the "best pizza in New York" and learn to reduce your carbon footprint.

1. Today, Scarsdale Patch will begin running tips, tricks, and plans for busy moms on the go. Need ideas of where to take the children this weekend? Our “Grab and Go Kids Planner” will help you locate the perfect activity for you and your family. Want tips to help your son overcome shyness, or your daughter to stop biting her nails? Tune in to our “Moms Talk Q&A” at 1 p.m. to weigh in with local matriarchs on the best course of action. And, of course, how could we forget lists of local deals (Frugal Family), stress-busters for stretched-thin mothers (The Great Escape) and profiles on local students who are making a big difference despite their small statures (Whiz Kids)? Make sure to read all the latest incoming features, and weigh in on whether they are making life easier – or at least, helping you realize that you’re not alone!

 2. This evening, the Greenburgh Nature Center will be holding a program entitled “Moving Consumer Culture ‘Beyond Waste’ in Neighborhood, Village, County and State.” The seminar, featuring representatives from the Village, Westchester County and New York State, will explore how to use new technologies to decrease and reclaim waste. The discussion will start tonight at 7 p.m. Find out more information by visiting the Nature Center’s website, calling (914) 723-3470, or emailing info@greenburghnaturecenter.org.

3.  New York is famous for its pizza, but somehow Scarsdale managed to take the cake – or should I say, slice – for “Best Pizza” in the greater city area.  In a recent issue of USA Today, ZaZa was lauded as having the cheesiest, greasiest, and yes, tastiest, pie around. Hyper-critical food blog Serious Eats also agreed with the assessment— proving that ZaZa's chefs have got some serious pizza-making skills.
