Get Out: Rock Concerts, Mother's Day Brunch and a Q&A with the Director of 'Winter's Bone'

Why Go: "Winter's Bone," the Oscar-nominated film starring newcomer Jennifer Lawrence, will be screened at the Jacob Burns Film Center. The evening will also feature a Q&A session with acclaimed director Debra Granik, who will be interviewed by the JBFC's Director of Educational Innovation Holen Kahn.

When: Saturday, May 7, 7:30 p.m. 

Why Go: Best known for the hit songs "Lighting Crashes" and "I, Alone," 90s alt-rocker Ed Kowalczyk will be hitting the stage in Irvington to promote his new solo career.

Why Go: Rock out for a good cause by attending the Scarsdale Teen Center's annual benefit concert, featuring local bands The Blueberries, The Offbeats and the Del Bocas.

Where: , 455 Mamaroneck Rd, Scarsdale

When: Saturday, May 7, 1-4 p.m. 

Why Go: If your child’s over 11 years old, he or she can make their own “ulu,” or “moon knife” – an all-purpose tool made of slate and antler, horn or ivory used by the Inuit people to prepare food, skin and clean animals and build igloos. Make sure to bring a sharp pocket knife with a locking blade or a fixed blade (not a Swiss Army knife or Leatherman tool).
